THE SPANISH LOTTERY’S FESTIVE CAMPAIGN TOUCHES BOTH REAL AND PLASTIC HEARTS

Spaniards go wild for el Gordo, an annual bumper-sized lottery that sees people queuing for hours to get tickets for the annual Christmas jackpot. This year, the animated spot for the Spanish Lottery Company tells the story of the lonely evening shift security guard Justino, who spends his evenings at the mannequin factory without any human contact. One day he decides to have some fun by staging the mannequins in funny scenarios to the amusement of his day shift colleagues – sweetening up the season for everyone.

COCA COLA REMINDS US TO SHARE CHRISTMAS THE SPIRIT

The beverage king has produced an impressive cinematic short film in Brazil that captures the won- der of the festive season through a child’s eyes. A motherless boy lives in a town that Santa appears to have forgotten in recent years. The little boy figures that the problem lies in a broken bridge. He leaves a message for Santa in a Coke bottle and his father, upon reading it, resolves to try to fix the bridge — hoping for a little Christmas magic. He rallies the townspeople to work together to repair the bridge so that Santa can cross it. Later at night, Papai Noel himself shows up along with a perfor- mance troupe to the boy’s delight and amazement, showing that dreams do come true.

MULBERRY PUTS A CHEEKY TWIST ON ITS NATIVITY-INSPIRED CHRISTMAS AD

In their video for their new Bayswater bag, the luxury fashion brand replaces Baby Jesus with a red leather tote. The lucky lady unwraps it, saying: „It‘s the most beautiful thing I‘ve ever seen in my life“. The boyfriend’s gift is such an object of wonder, it attracts the attention of some surprising visitors (including the three wise men) who are keen to be in the vicinity of such a miraculous gift. The bewildered boyfriend doesn‘t understand the attention – „Guys, it‘s just a bag“ – much to the amusement of everyone else.

JUDITH KERR CREATES A SPECIAL STORY FOR SAINSBURY’S

Food retailer Sainsbury’s features an old friend in their latest Christmas ad. Mog, who is brought to life by world-renowned author and illustrator Judith Kerr, has become everyone’s favourite feline and her adventures have delighted kids all around the world. This time around, she seems to ruin Christmas by setting off a chain of unfortunate events. Luckily, everyone pulls together and saves the day. Every penny of the profit from sales of the accompanying illustrated book will also be donated to charity.

JOHN LEWIS SHOWS US THAT HAPPINESS IS UNIVERSAL

They did it again! This year the British department store tells the heart-warming story of a young girl called Lily looking at the moon through her family’s telescope one night, watching the man in the moon. The little girl is amazed by the old man and becomes determined to send him a message showing him that he’s not alone and somebody is thinking about him. But all of her efforts seem to be in vain. When Christmas Day comes around, the old man finally receives a parcel: a telescope from the girl, which he then uses to spot her back on earth.

EDEKA MAKES YOU FEEL ALL THE FEELINGS

The German supermarket’s new commercial tells the story of an old man whose children are too busy with their own lives to spend time with their father, who eats his Christmas dinner alone, year after year. The children then receive news that their father has passed away and finally make the effort to come together at the old family house – only to find out that their father is still very much alive but just desperate to spend time with them again. His admission, „How else could I have brought you all together?“, highlights the importance of appreciating your family over the festive period.
